Angel Eggs

Sweet Pickle and Horseradish Deviled Eggs

Okay so they really are called Deviled Eggs.  I guess I just never understood why, so I personally call them ANGEL EGGS unless of course they do not turn out….then I gladly call them Deviled Eggs :) .

I have always loved them.  It is one of those welcomed foods at any party and they always seem to go fast.  But I myself would hardly make them.  Not sure why since I enjoy them, so I have decided to change that.

In next few days we will be going to a potluck party and I decided to be the one that brings the eggs this time.  But that means I needed to make sure I learn all I can about making them as perfect as possible.  So I went and bought couple of trays for proper display and storage and even a cake icing kit with all the little fancy nozzles so maybe I can make the filling look all pretty. :)

Then I decided to google it (got to love Google) and see if I can find a recipe for the filling (or basically double check that my recipe was correct) and I came across this cool site:  http://www.deviledeggs.com/ and to my surprise – there are all kinds of recipes…not just the basic one which is the one I had already.  I got so excited and decided to right away chose a recipe so I could try it out and have it ready for our Discipleship Group that evening.

I chose the Sweet Pickle and Horseradish Deviled Eggs.  At this time I didn’t read through the site much, I just picked the recipe and made them up.  I was not able to make them as ‘pretty’ or ‘perfect’ looking as I hoped BUT they tasted awesome and they were a hit :) None were left!!!

THEN – after the meeting and once I had more time, I was able to read through more of the information and I was amazed at all the tricks I have learned.  No wonder I hardly made them before…there was always some challenge with them BUT now I understand that making these wonderful treats involves a little more craftiness and knowledge than I ever imagined.  Now that I know….I am so excited to make more and ready to follow ALL the ‘how to properly boil an egg’ instructions.   Thank you Irene :)

Here was my first batch of Sweet Pickle and Horseradish Deviled Eggs.

  1. May I just say, having participated in the making of the eggs (my particular job was to chop the onions and oh yea, I was also an Official Taster – my favorite part!), these angels were phenomenal!

Talking eggs with you this morning, Daniela, I learned so much! Whodda thunk it? I can’t wait til we try some of the tips you’ve read about, because really, I never met an angel egg I didn’t like.

Girl, I just love hanging out with you!
